Searching for Your Love
Searching for Your Love

I took you to my bed last night in dreams,

your beauty was not covered so it seems.

Through open silky drapes the breeze was still;

your silhouette showed all through window sill.

My heart was aching as I longed for you

reflecting on the lives we barely knew.

Your lonely heart spoke passion as did mine,

as if we sat to share the finest wine.

Our mem'ries told of places we had lain,

and now I ached to touch you once again.

Yet time had christened years for all to see,

'tween "you" and "me," we couldn't share a "we."

Its just the way some things were meant to be --

streams run downhill until they reach the sea.

So there my dreams held me a world apart,

remembering the time that broke my heart.

A beautifully written poem.  I think it is far easier to have heard the spoken words of broken love than to gradually drift apart.  I just love the last four lines.  Another great poem.

Love can cause a heart to rejoice and be the cause of heartache too...true every waking hour and even in the dreamworld. Fine post!

How did I miss this one?...just when I thought I had it all figured out you make me re-think the phrase..."it's just the way that things were meant to be".  Longing placed on every line...and reflects a struggle within my own well as many others, I am sure.  This is like silk upon the skin to read... and chocolate for the mind on which to feed.

Very nice. I love poems that just roll off the tongue. Iambic pentameter works for me! A beautiful poem that really brings across the feelings of a broken heart.
