Beyond The Darkness

Passion craves our souls like a hungry beast

Flesh became barter will we be able atone for the sin

From deep within us the other side of what love is

All that we are starts to slowly close in and consume

Reason is chased away and burns within the flame

Winds scatter the ashes in darkness with no direction

We canít get away so we are left to relive it over again
Such is the night that quietly stalks us like prey

Author's Notes:

What I am talking about is passion fueled by lust for another, the forbidden fruit of being with someone else when you are in a relationship.

great description of emotional peril. if anything good ever came from all these rotten emotions, it's poetry.

Well, Steve~!  This is just what the human side of us brings forth, and passion is to be savored....Keep the coals of love alive~!...Night brings us to a crossroads, oft times.... Good read, Steve!

This is just gorgeous!  The forbidden fruit looks always more inviting, until you taste it, then sometimes it is not at all what you picture it to be.

Great write Steve.

Passion is an emotion that should be desired and felt without guilt. I agree with Barbara. There is a feeling of guilt in this write. Well expressed Steve.

Steve,
I concur with Glata and Barbara. No guilt or regrets, only human desire and let me say...
Loved this, well done!!

A scorcher, me pal...but agreeing with Barbara here...passion is supposed to burn white-hot...If it's accompanied by a love that burns just as brightly, then it's to be desired on every level! Welcome it with open arms...
Great write, Steve...I, too, enjoyed this...
Hugs!

Call me strange but I'm not seeing a problem here. Passion should burn hot and wild when it is felt with no regrets...as long as it isn't hurting anyone. Welcome night...bring it on. I sense guilt in this piece. Nicely expressed Steve! Bravo...I have enjoyed this poem.
