Domestic violence

Listen well

There are voices to hear

Too many lives

Tremble with fear

The numbers are many

That suffer in silence

Bruised and battered

By domestic violence

They have been quieted

By a demanding hand

With the idea

 That none will understand

Pushed to the brink

They are loyal to a flaw

To perpetrators

Shielded by law

It’s time to rise up

Give them a voice

There will be consequence

If you batter by choice

Put them in cuffs

Take them away

Beat them to a pulp

Each and evry day

Then they’ll know

About suffering in silence

Pehaps it will deter

The domestic violence

Author's Notes:

Sorry for the soapbox folks, but I just don’t understand why this has reached epidemic proportions. No one should be permitted to put their hands on anyone in anger.

I HATE VIOLENCE IN ALL FORMS…ALL THE TIME!

NO ONE HAS A RIGHT, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TO LIFT A HAND AGAINST ANOTHER.  AND YET IT HAPPENS…

THERE SHOULD BE MORE AND BETTER RECOURSE AVAILABLE TO THE VICTIMS,

FOR OFTEN IT IS THE POOR SYSTEM THAT STOPS THEM FROM SPEAKING UP AND NOT LOYALTY AT ALL.

IF YOU KNEW THAT AFTER REPORTING DV THAT THE COPS WOULD JUST WALK AWAY AND LEAVE YOU IN THE ABUSERS HANDS WOULD YOU DO IT?  "SHEILDED BY LAW” NAILS THE PROBLEM, HENRY…THAT’S THE GREAT OBSTACLE!

TOO BAD THE SYSTEM’S NOT CHANGING TO HELP THEM…

ON THE OTHER HAND…I WOULD NEVER ADVANCE BEATING ANYONE TO A PULP IN RETURN.  I FEEL THAT I WOULD BE JUMPING ON THEIR BANDWAGON, MYSELF, IN DOING SO.

I THINK THE BEST SOLUTION IS A STRICTER WAY OF DEALING WITH ALL REPORTS AND A TRUE CARE FOR THOSE WHO MAKE THEM.  THE SYSTEM INSTEAD GETS THEM BEATEN TWICE AS BAD AFTER, THAN BEFORE THEY MADE THE CALL FOR HELP!

GOOD WRITE…

~I HOPE IT CHANGES THE WORLD~

I like the message. Hope many will realize they must speak up and get out. I been in these shoes and know first hand it is easier said than done. But once it is done it is an empowering feeling of finally being in controll. I hope atleast one person gets the message you put forth and puts forth their feet to saftey!

Hear, hear! I am in full agreement...but I also know the other side of the coin...backing down is done often because the one being abused is terrified of being alone...even if it means the beatings will stop. It's a "known" evil...and sometimes, even though it ends in horrific violence most times, it's still not as scary as trying to face the world on your own...especially after you've been brainwashed into believing you are worthless and that you'll never make it in life without them.

I have a best friend from school that has been with this guy for 25 or 26 years now...but for the first 6 or 8 years they were together I would risk my life to go get her and take her to safety...because she and her kids were that important to me. She would be away from him for sometimes less than half a day and she'd sneak off and call him to tell him where they were. After having knives held to my throat and pistols pointed at my head, I realized that I had to consider my own children, and let her find her own way out WHEN she was ready...and THEN I could be there for her. Hardest thing I ever had to do in my life...

Abuse should NEVER happen...and I don't know if it's reached an epidemic lately, or if it's just now more openly talked about. Before it was such a moot point that no one would talk about it. One of those taboo things...

Sorry...Think I went on the soapbox myself, lol!

A powerful write, Henry...one that hopefully will inspire someone that might be dealing with this sort of treatment...

Hugs...Glata

And I agree Henry what I don't understand is why so many do not press charges when they have the choice, they call the police because they are in danger, then they back down, if the relationship does come to an end they just move on and do it to some one else, they are vermin and need to be brought to book if the victims won't stop them no one will, they have the best chance they should use it before some one else suffers, nice writing my friend~Graham.
