Morning Mist

Sun peaking above the mountains tops,

tangerine, lemon rays not yet warm,

slip through my open window,

creeping slowing across the hardwood floor.

Ocean breeze teasing the curtains,

waking them to a new dawn,

fragrant hobo jasmine catching a ride,

filling my senses, refining contentment.

Stretching in annoyance Moop the cat,

turns her back to the thief of night,

promptly snuggles deep into the covers,

welcoming kitten dreams once more.

Waves gently caress the rocky shore,

gulls screeching a good morning song,

smiling, empty arms reach for you,

met instead by the lonely mist of a dream.

Melody, your poetry grows in feeling and creative expression with every post!  This is very delightful...each line adds depth...love the sunrise with its tangerine, lemon rays...and Moop the cat with his kitten dreams disturbed...its is very peaceful...a very inviting picture of the california coast...the last two lines come crashing in tho...and makes the reader wonder what caused this disruption in paradise...sigh...this is a real beauty!!  incredible, my friend  ♥

Dreams can be both enlightenment and disappointment.  But one without the other, would we really know the difference.  I usually know that I have dreamt, but seldom do I remember the dream.
Beautiful poem to wake up to this morning Thank you
Gene
