Sun peaking above the mountains tops,
tangerine, lemon rays not yet warm,
slip through my open window,
creeping slowing across the hardwood floor.
Ocean breeze teasing the curtains,
waking them to a new dawn,
fragrant hobo jasmine catching a ride,
filling my senses, refining contentment.
Stretching in annoyance Moop the cat,
turns her back to the thief of night,
promptly snuggles deep into the covers,
welcoming kitten dreams once more.
Waves gently caress the rocky shore,
gulls screeching a good morning song,
smiling, empty arms reach for you,
met instead by the lonely mist of a dream.
