Bitter Wine
Memories of a lost love.
sweet wine upon chapped lips.
Love ferments in a vat of lies,
written in a cheaters script.
Past wine has since turned rancid,
teasing a parched tongue.
Don't tell me that you loved me
too many lyrics have been sung
As the wine turns to vinegar
your grapes have soured again.
This emotion you perceive as love
shows  how you lied back then.
My song has turned to melodies
of love within my self.
Taste better then your bitter drink
kept bottled on the shelf.
Author's Notes:

Sweet wine of love turns rancid with lies and disrepect. The cure is to find the love with in ones self.

Comparing the process of making sth to sth else in a poem drived from a smart brain. Nice!

very vivid and very true - beautifully expressed sentiment that reminds that the bitter is never far from the sweet.  and as for the wine - well, tonight i think i'll have a beer.  great job, ms chilly berry

...ah wise words from your poetic show us the futility of lingering too long with memories of a lost love...hoping them to be sweet wine on chapped lips...but in reality no more than sour wine left in the bottom of the wine glass far too long...oh, I love this piece. you are a teacher as well as a poet ♥
