The Trellis
The Trellis

Tiny moss green leafs push through rocky ground
Into a fresh new eager vine strong and mighty
Ready to climb towards the sun; king of the garden
Where he will cascade over the top of a shaky trellis

Before the morning dawn, stretching he baths in the dew
Sun slips from the night smiling on godís creation
Dried in the glowing heat pulling in its nourishment
He re-joyous each day a amazing new beginning

*And he grows

A small flower buds tiny with delicate soft petals
Peach with makeup of white she blooms; his stem trembles
Flexing his strength, he embraces her tenderly in protection
Soon together, they reach the top overlooking their kingdom

With out regard she was roughly plucked from her home
The vine wept in silent screams heart stolen by human hands
Weeks have passed colors change tips of brown curl the edges
Quickly  spreading, infecting his health his grasp slips

*And he dies

Amazing..this is one of the best poems I have ever read on here-so out of character to the normal broken heart, humor or prose. I love how you capyured the living sentiments of the folige. I literally felt as though I was creeping up the trellis and overlooking a grand kingdom. So surreal sweetie, so surreal. I am a huge gardener and never thought to place myself inside a  flower...always viewing from a bystander. yet I was challenged once to do a personification called "A friend just Arose" almost coming close.

I see award written all over this.

wonderful personification of the ivy.  you give it a truly human experience through all the stages.  you amaze me with your consistent ability to bring words to vibrant life.

This is very pretty Melody.  I love the images it brings to my mind.

Melody:  so beautifully written with such a sad ending.  I seldom pick flowers, I enjoy the beauty of the plant.
