It’s been just four months
Since I came through this door.
And this week received a great honor;
A tribute that put me on the floor.
I basked in the glow when a dear poet friend
suggested the most obvious gesture.
“Say thanks to each to those who mean most.”
So here my blessings I attempt to capture.
Without a friend of many years
C-P’s doors I wouldn’t have darkened
But Blueyd Cindy’s more dearer to me
Than all great poems may have harkened.
Sheedream’s Linda Jo, whose tribute penned
Almost held my loud tongue in silence.
Feeling naked as I walked the streets of
Her tribute which cast on me undue brilliance.
Pole-twirling Aires Girl, the Hoosier bride -
She suggested that I pen my thanks.
With great good grace and humor cast,
She written me some tough word banks.
Lovely, languid, longing Lunar Lady,
The spinner of sensual scenes.
She laughs at all of my alleged jokes.
Keeps me on toes (and not knees).
Tanya is the star story teller
With skills that span the whole gamut.
She shifts with ease from the eyes of the child
To strong tales equal to Dashiell Hammett.
When I first entered the halls of C-P,
“Read Pamela L.” was the wisest advice.
My sonnet coach she has since become
With guidance both helpful and nice.
I can’t forget my Canadian friend
Whose heart bursts with northern pride.
Barbara D will also “bring on the heat”
And take you on a wild ride.
“We’re not in Kansas” is what I say
When on Jo’s works I remark.
But leave if you speak to her of Toto
You may get a bite or a bark.
Hmmm all females I’ve thanked?
I know, that will never do.
Okay, the fairer sex I prefer
But our guys are good guys too.
T-man! My man, the redneck bard.
Always first in line with kind comments.
His romances laced with deep-felt fire
And his humor is never misspent.
I still don’t know what a Eudora is
But I know Bruce is clearly a first-rate mate.
His insights to his land are magical
And his story-telling is great.
Can’t forget Gene, that crusty old dude
Whose writings often belie his age.
Our philosopher is beyond all compare
With words that demand center-stage.
When it comes to rich scenes and feelings
So deep, no one can compare to She Whispers.
In touch with the land and the ways of the heart,
Her words flowing soft like vespers.
To mystical, magical gardens I often will go
Under the spell of the sublime Lady D
Where else would one see a pink unicorn
While drinking some creamy coffee?
My friend Ms Clean Slate knows who she is
And always gives good-natured teasing
But Glata’s talents span a wide range
With results that are invariably pleasing.
When I published a poem sharing pain in my life
My new friends, they all rushed to my side.
But Angelface with her unshakable faith
Shared words that helped me abide.
Who is our tender task-master,
The one who gives us our challenges?
Ann produces great works all her own
While asking for poems about “oranges.”
There are so many young writers who
Treat me so kind, a bright future is theirs to own.
Lady Nik and Adelle and Katlyn are par excellence
And the limits of Thomas Heath are yet known.
My favorite siblings, Amber and Taylor
Show warmth to melt an iceberg
But no matter how long I ponder these pages
I’ll wonder - Who is Claude Infinklesteinburg?
We’ve recently been joined by a sweet Melody
With the most creative name I have heard
Raspberry Ice Nymph was a new one on me
But what visual magic she’s already conjured.
But of the so young, the one closest to me
Is a would-be barista and bank teller.
She’d say she’s a bug, but that’s not right to me.
Ladybug is what I insist that I call her.
Am I locked once again on the fairer sex?
Well I suppose that is no surprise.
But to the fluent Mujtaba I turn my salute.
His kind wishes always make the heart rise.
A fond gaze I cast over the waves to my friends in distant lands.
To Wind, Aminath, Evelina and Adri.
And the mystical voice of Alison Storm Wolf
With her lyrical words that captivate me.
sHeRi, I never could quite get the name,
with a style I’ll admit is quite rare.
But your works make me stop and think and
Your smile always attracts my stare.
I salute my friend Cooper who so far away
Her country she so selfless serves.
And my favorite barmaid the cheery Miss Vee
Though my wit must get on her nerves!
To Tina Dee, Angel Wings and friend Janice B
I look forward to each new aside
Jillian and Mary Jo, those experienced pros
Share comments that give me smiles wide.
So many to thank for kindnesses shown
And I worry I might not name the all.
But Savannah gave me my kind comment
Which made me ten and a half feet tall.
And so thank you all, friends both old and new.
This poem has rambled too long.
But thank you for adding me into your life,
A bond that grows forever strong.
