A Pair of Limericks Somewhat Related to St. Patrick's Day

There once was a lad from the Coast

Of his prowess he would loudly boast

But his skills it would seem

Resided only in dreams

For no girl would hoist him a toast.

A lovely lass from County Cork

Was chased by an unquestioned dork.

Til she tripped on the grass

And without being too crass,

She found hed concealed much great pork.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yes, I know limericks tend to be bawdy, but you never know who might be reading.

Limericks work for you because of your wit and sense of humor. I expect to see more of these because (to me) they feel to right for you. I am so very late on commenting that it is a shame but may I give a hearty HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY to ye anyway. I've a wee bit of Irish in me too...and it isn't Guinness! *smiles* Enjoyed the first one particularily...GO ANDREW!

These are great :) I haven't read a good limerick since (for some reason) I found some in my research paper guideline book....I'm not sure why there were any in there, but you know, these things happen :P I especially love the first one. Sounds quite Irish to me. Reminds me of one of my favorite poems.

Thanks for sharing!

I like limericks of every kind, especially the bawdy ones! Maybe that's due to my fondness for poetic forms, or maybe it's due to my Irishness... Probably both. Anyway, fine work; I particularly liked the first limerick - it reminded me of me... Which isn't always a good thing, but it definitely is in this case. Very well done!

oh oh oh sooooo bad
but good.

A man from the state of Virginia
asked "do you have a heart in ya"
though the answer seemed clear
the only word he could hear
was each beat is only an enigma.

so riddle me this:

I never was, am always to be. No one ever saw me, nor ever will.
And yet I am the confidence of all, To live and breathe on this
terrestrial ball. What am I?

Great little limerick here my friend.  Hope you didn't drink too much green beer. *wink* ~Pamela

Ha, the poor girl!  As a young irish girl, thanks for writing a poem celebrating St. Patrick's Day Andrew.  Your poem was cute.  I'm looking forward to celebrating St. Patrick's Day too.
