Speak Not

..Speak not of devotion
When lies fertilize the tongue
and the heart is planted deep in
the soil of dishonesty fed only by the
blood of deception.

..Speak not of forever
When in the light of day
it dissipates and fades,
weakening with each
dawn of tomorrow.

..Speak not my name
In haste or reckless abandon,
embrace it only in the light
of purity and respect haloed
by morality.

....For I am Love....

I believe that we, as individuals, have a responsibility to pay forward the lessons life has taught us. I am considered stingy with my reviews of poetry because I see so few that share true wisdom. We only have a limited amount of time to leave our imprint on creation. In that time, we have a choice; write for ourselves, and the accolades we receive for that effort, or write to feed the souls of those who read. You have done that here. Everyone wants love, many need it, but few truly understand it. Love is the fulfillment of an ideal that is older than time. It is pure, and unblemished, yet it weeps as one soul after another turn it into something...superficial. True love is symbiotic, when it touches your soul, it becomes part of you, and it never departs. No matter how the relationship goes, true love is there forever, even if the one you truly love is not. I wish that more young people understood how precious, and how powerful the gift of love is. You can only share a first time; yet too often, when we are fortunate enough to find our soul mate, we do not have a first moment to share. I hope your poem reaches those who read it, and instills in them a proper reverence for the true essence of love. God bless.

I will speak of devotion,
for I believe in a love so true.
A love that is binding,
this love between me and you.

I will speak of forever,
for true love has no boundries of time and space.
Even in death love can live on,
it only needs to be a thought, not an embrace.

I will speak of your name,
every single day of my  life.
Having it flow from my tongue,
gets me through the strife.

Terrific write Melody. I have a habit of writng response poetry to pieces that inspire me.....Joe

I read this several times, slower each time to understand the emotion and imagery woven in to your words. It is very well written and the style of the speaker certainly conveyed a time and place to me.  The underlying emotions are powerful without being overpowering.  Don't hide your talent, when you have the inspiration and time post more writes.
