Menís Hockey Gold

Canada against the U.S.
'twas the men's hockey team,
puck is shot down the ice
in each team's eyes, the gold gleams.

It all comes down to this
Canada against the U.S.A.,
they skate down the ice
it's quite the game, I'd say.

First goal goes in
Canada leads by one,
the crowd cheers loudly
'neath the Vancouver sun.

The horn blows loudly
Canada is on a roll,
the crowd goes crazy
when it becomes the second goal.

The U.S. fights hard
down the ice they go,
left and then to the right
then the horn blows.

It's the third period
U.S and Canada are two for two,
the game is tied as of now
what is Canada to do?

We go into overtime
the teams can taste the Gold,
four on four, the teams are
emotions are growing cold.

Twelve minutes and twenty seconds left
too long, this game's been put on hold,
Sidney Crosby and teammates raise their arms

okay, okay, i surrender!!!  between you and barbara d, you are beating us U.S. hockey fans about the head and shoulders!  LOL - that's okay - i've no problem with team usa losing to canada - host nation, national pride - it's all good - i just wish (as a washington capitals fan) that it would have been someone other than that hated penguin to score the winner!  you did a great job not only capturing the spirit of the win but also the national pride the win has evoke - very nicely done!
