Portraiture of love

At first light I positioned my easel,
filled my palette and gathered my brushes
in attempt to capture the sunrise -
obscuring my view, was simply you.

Soon I was looking at an abstract,
vibrant colors that swirled and peaked.
Sighing in frustration,
what did it mean?

Then I realized I had created
a portraiture of my love.

Pastels soft as a summer night,
subtle hues of tender emotion,
softest blues, creams and liquid greens,
sensual ivory and lavenders of longing.

Light red and tangerine jumped from the canvas...
explosions of sexual intoxication and creativity.
Purple playing on the magic of romance
tickled with white, the symbol of loves purity.

No words could express what my colors revealed -

I love you.......

Love in the abstract makes a better picture than reality sometimes but your metaphor worked very well and certainly conveyed the emotions of the moment.   Love is never easel.

the quill in your hand,

dip deep in your heart.

returns here time and time again,

don't you ever turn around or depart.

my world and theirs will never be the same,

if you choose to silence your soul laden hand.

A beautiful poem about a portrait of love! I tried that once... I think yours is better than mine. :-) Mine came out about lost love, hah.

Way to go! :-) I really like this one a lot.

Very well created.  The photo burned in my mind.  The man (whoever he may be) will be one lucky son-of-a-gun to find love like that waiting on him.  Damon

Welcome to this site!  Your creativity shines in this piece...such a beautiful artist who paints with both colors  and words!  Your painting and your poem placed side by side...don't know which one would be judged as more beautiful.  ♥ Ljo

you continue to amaze me with the vivid images you create - no, you are painting them - the colors translating into sensual feelings, revealing your true feelings - this is good stuff, ms chilly raspberry
