Birds of This Feather Don't Flock Together
The seed is planted and the tree is free to bloom
It rests peacefully here before your solemn tomb
Not a day goes by where you don't cross my mind
Not a motive nor a reckoning is left here to find

There is no doubt I wonder what happened that day
I strain to find the device that led you so astray
This can't be the way in which you chose to leave
If only I was there on that fateful summer's eve

I promised I'd never dwell on motives or reasons
Yet my dissonance grows with the days and seasons
Without strength nor logic you made the final cut
And with a falling blade, your final chapter shut

With every season there is another chance to grow
A chance to move on from things we'll never know
I must have taken slumber and woken in winter past
The time with much content I shared with you last

For but a dream you are, beauty that I once knew
Please never wake me, as long as I'm here with you
The ultimate reminiscence resides within my sleep
I count your fallen, wasted years in lieu of sheep

For the wondering placates me with each short wink
Why you're one with the ghosts, I shudder to think
Yet the time we shared makes me even more fearful
Due to death of a beauty so complacent and cheerful

Something along that time, in which I had no part
Took away the thing I desired the most, your heart
And if the thought of you will be locked in my head
I'd rather have another empty memory there instead

And as I stand by my lone grave, eager to be filled
Remember you're the debtor, and I'm the one billed
For this pain inside will not bring me to your fate
I'd tell you goodbye, but I fear it's much too late
