To Meet Again
A worldly break
unknowing, ungrieved
leaves the drifting soul
awash in the grayness of dust.
Lifeless heart
finds a beating presence
amid the lifting light
of the dark evening of tomorrow.
And in the span
of death and life,
there hangs the crossroad
of decision.
To meet again,
is but the leaving-
welcomed by the fallen,
held in the drift of love.
Author's Notes:
Haiti and the souls of those who see the light in death but yearn for the life left behind. My heart is so heavy with sadness for them all.

this so powerfully captures the experience of a nation traumatized, from the view of those who can only despair for them and offer what they can...the words float delicately like dust, creating that hazy sadness...
nice expressed

Really sad, yet lovely poem.  Those people have such a long road ahead of them.  I wish I could shelter every single one of them.  Great job on this poem.

My heart too is heavy with sadness.  You have penned this beautifully.

beautifully expressed sentiment, Ann - there is no place on earth worse suited to absorb that kind of damage than haiti - makes the heart break - and least i forget - a wonderful poem by you.

Your words create the same heaviness your heart comforted Ann, there is always something positive in everything negative. Your thoughts are deep and powerful. This is lovely, a insightful and expressive post Ann.

Now if you were to capitalize Light, I would like it much better.  "who see the light in death"   to   who see the Light in death.    Deaths, such as those in Haiti tend to change a population for the better.  Let's pray it happens here also.  Far too many lost far to many.
I would meet again any time should I find the same person to love.
