Wondering Why
wondering why,
friends are considered friends,
when friends do not talk
to those considered friends.
always wondered why,
friends say they love
the friends they never call,
are they considered friends at all?
finding friends,
wondering about friendship,
as empty inside
as a black hole's
makes me think,
are they really friends at all?
wondering why,
things never work out as planned,
why friends say you are their friend
though they never call,
why plans dissapear
as quick as a summer squall,
why love is forgotten simply 'cause
that person is far away for a time,
why friends think
that they are the only ones
who ever feel pain?
wondering why
friendship is ever so far away?
wondering why
true friendship never comes without cost.
friendship..... the thing i have rarely found.

Beautifully written. this topic is both sad and very true. real friendships hard to maintain at times as Amand said, but sometimes it also proves who your real friends are. The reality of life is that we may only have one or two true friends...all the rest may do what the speaker is expressing. it is those few friends that are truest to us that truely care

real friendships are hard to maintain. i can relate to the sentiments expressed in this poem... but I suppose you have to turn it around and say to the speaker " you are also one of these 'friends,'" and the problem is not only without but also within.
