Randomly Me Too
! Randomly Me Too !

On the outside alienated and withdrawn...
On the inside unknown potential...
So scared of this world's judement...
But a rare smile on my face lights my soul...
Hanging with me and sharing good laughs
Shows how fun I can truely be...

On the outside just trying to get by...
On the inside dying to prove the good in my heart...
So messed up, but trying to prove that I'm so much more...
With all this confusion,
Depression and overwhelming secrets...
Yet I'm still courageous in my own way...
That I fight a battle everyday...
Trying so hard to change for the better...
Despite all this fear and shame bottled up inside...

On the outside just moody and want out of here...
On the inside mixed emotions...
I'm just so complicated and fickle...
Switching from a smile and laughs...
To a frown and tears...
To shout it loud!
Sometimes I'll light up your whole day...
And then I'll end up as depressed as ever...

On the outside hard to read the whole story...
On the inside a good little genius no one knew existed...
Just in my room killing time...
With the music up way loud...
Watching TV at the same time...
Just contemplating and reflecting what's in my heart...
Then I just have to write it all out...

You don't know all the pieces of me...
I'm more than this mess...
And I'm way more than ordinary...
And my heart is just dying to prove it to you...

Wouldn't it be great...
If you really knew what I'm all about on the inside...?
Author's Notes:
I was looking through some of my very old poetry...The very first poems I wrote when I started poetry all together...Because I think my writing's a bit off...And sometimes when this happens, I go back and look other the things I used to write...My mom has even kept things I wrote when I first started grade school...She won't let me look at them because she know I'm self conscious of my writes and I'd probably throw them away if I didn't like them...But I came across this one...A sequel to another old poem of mine called Randomly Me which is also in this collection...I remember this poem...I remeber people said it was very good...I also remember how I thought it was stupid...It's strange...cuz now after all this time I agree with them...The end makes you smile a bit...I do not remeber the exact time and day I wrote this...but I think it was a time when I was a bit of a happier person...It sounds just like the Little Ellie I used to be...And just you know I wrote of characters first...I started writing poetry when I was a bit older...

"On the inside a good little genius no one knew existed..."  I love this line.

What you have done, in my humble opinion, is to capture the essence of the struggle of growing up.  We think we are one thing, others think another, the images collide and conflict, and in the end, no one knows how this evolution is going to turn out.  I applaud you on your insight.  keep smiling
