Ann's Next Question - #13
Considering this is #13...how superstitious are you? Will your fear of the number 13 keep you from even answering this? Does any particular number scare you or make you feel lucky?
Author's Notes:
I like numbers and the way they seem to be their own language. I'm not superstitious about numbers but I love to hear about how others feel about it.

The number 11 has always been my favorite number for coincidences in my life surrounding the number...  Oh and the number 42 was a memorable number when I was a young teenager...  You see this sweet looking senior I was secretly mad about had size  ....   UH  ...  Never mind  ...

Hi Ann: I'm not superstitious about numbers or many things.  One of my only "be carefuls" is I dont place a hat on a bed.  Dont remember the significance of this one; but, I'm always careful.

I am not superstitious regarding numbers (actually not really about anything) I do have a favorite (lucky?) number though, but I don't connect any supernatural or superstition to it.
Nice question, since Halloween is around the corner.

I thought the number 13 was considered unlucky (originally) because there are 13 steps up to the gallows. Hope to never have the experience of counting them personally but anyway...

No, I'm not superstitious about numbers or superstions in general. Most of my family are though--my mom certainly was. I couldn't believe the things they would avoid because of some evil that would befall them or the things that did happen that they attributed to...whatever...walking under a ladder, a black cat crossing their path...etc. The avoidance, the remedies, the consequences...all seemed ridiculous to me and all because of unfounded fables. I find them amusing at best. I like a fortune cookie but that is probably my insatiable curiosity kicking in. Of course adding "in bed" after whatever the cookie says makes for a lot of fun. (oops...getting off the topic there)

I do believe in the power of positive thinking though...it is amazing what can be achieve with the power of the mind..our thoughts can heal or hurt us. There is a lot more to say on this subject but that is an answer for a different question.

As for numbers...I like 7 but only because it is my birthday and I tease about it saying it is "lucky 7" for that exact reason. *anything for a laugh*

Well, I am partial to the triple 3 = 333....I am a Numerologist and numbers are not negative to me, rather each has it's own rite for karma...I have studied and taught through my Metaphysics classes the Numerology lore...The reason for the # 13 to be felt to be superstitious is that it's number is actually 4 which brings the Soul to a 4-cornered decision...*smile*....Anyway, the number we should ALL strive for is the 9, as 9 is the highest number and the finishing number....Even 666 is 9, and a finish....and so forth...(((Oh, I know, more than you wanted to know, huh?))
Interesting question.....

My birthdate 27 is my lucky number.  The sum of the day I was born on plus the month plus the two digit year also equal 27, which is odd.  I could never wear the #13, though Kurt Warner of the Arizona Cardinals and Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns do.  I'm very superstitious.  So much that I won't sign a tax return that has a $666 refund or tax due, which seems to come up more than you would think.  My grandfather and his brother died on the same month/day as they were born.  On my birthday they are always in the back of my mind.

Long story why 28 is lucky for me, but like many I have a thing for primes.  With that said, 23, John Nash's favorite prime, is a beautiful number, and 41, Tom Seaver's jersey, will always be an emotional favorite.  Two numbers associated with my birth, my birthday and year, have a special place in my numeric pantheon.  12, well, I think we can all understand it's aura, but 51, I especially love for it's numerical chicanery:  posing as a prime, but in reality a multiple of two primes, one of which is your case study.
