It's Halloween Again!

 It's   Halloween Again

The leaves are crunching beneath my feet
As I go marching down the street

I go to every neighbor’s house

My presence expected, no need to announce

It’s Halloween, people prancing about

Showing off the costumes that they had picked out

Children hungrily knock from door to door

Every home is magically a candy store

The treats however come at a small price

We must  be real careful and extra nice
next we have to greet with a "Trick” or "Treat”

Dressed in a costume from head to feet

We all hope that they never say the word "Trick”

Or give us something that will make us sick

Everywhere I turn there’s a pumpkin displayed

Decorated and carved every which way

Sometimes I’m startled by a scary old fellow

Who frightens me so I wobble like jello

yet I love this day,  a time to let loose

Eatting the things mom's always refuse

knapsacks get heavy and drag to the ground

Filled by all partakers inside of the town
Stuffed to the top, nearly ready burst
Supplying all till next October thirty-first

I love this time of year; so many wonderful memories over the years.  My dad used to love the trick or treat kids and would be overly generous with those big handfuls of candy - we live out in the country and no kids come but I do miss this special night of little kids stumbling their way up to the front door and giggling and running afte they get the treat.  Good poem -  Have a Special Halloween.
