Stars To Distant

Stars To Distant

In my size-challenged

shack among

the trees and prairie.

the stars reflect upon

the wooden floorboard

and the walls hollow

 winds with shabby pride.

moths scratch

on the weave of windows

mistaken for the cool

contours of the moon.

stars too distant

i must recite their names

before sleep takes me.

for in naming

 i will flow

among them

like the owl’s

call echos through the walls

glances the rings of planets

in my ears.

disturbs the orbits

of stellar images

outside my body

the names

of my luminous friends

echo in the endless spaces

in the ocean of  all things

and are not to far

for i know their names….

for when i call

they return to me

like sheep

from unknown pastures.

Andrew,
Finding comfort in the stars when sleep is close at hand, always is calming.
Wonderful--
