A Tooth Buried

“serpent turn.”

said the child

but the snake

made no reply

except

to crawl

like a question mark.

spoken by the dead.

as a child forms,.

and flesh weaves

its own empty joy.

“serpent turn?”

said the soldier;

but still the snake coiled on

and the words trailed into

the dust

a single line.

were bullets bloomed

their own bitter fruit.

a tooth buried in infinity’s side……
