For we are the things that abandon us. .
For we are
the things that abandon us.
they that come
to steal your face
how surprised
they are by your
hard worn spaces
ugliness has limped.
like duckling.
Lost in pond of moments

For without shadow
the leaves weave in the brows
of  my reaching
and the molecules of my thoughts
dimple on the corners of
my cold cheeks

the moon
like a glowing desert
reminds to always
carry a useful comb
and the hairs bustle
in the suggestions of air currents..

For those that
would steal  faces
mine is too homely
and soon
will be forgotten
like an empty  hat
on a north bound bus.
For we are
the things that abandon us.
.

You know Andrew…I think of you sometimes…

And when I do, I am always saddened with something that doesn’t make much sense… for why would I be so sad over someone I love, who did not love me back?  That’s just life I reason now…as I did then…whilst still grieving over you.

I still remember how you told me that things would just never work out between us…how things were just not possible.

I still remember how I turned away promptly and swiftly in that pain and in its futility…then I hurt your feelings in return. ( I think)

I think I’m still hurting from everything that conspired between us.

I still speak fondly of you with my son…for I find comfort in remembrance of you and your name somehow.

I found out recently that I might be getting some money…and as I was considering what I would do with it and and realizing that  money is utterly empty…and brings me no joy…

I thought of the time when I was thinking of trying to visit you…how you said you would show me around Kansas…have lunch with your mom.  I thought about all the old thoughts…going up to you and getting and giving that hug I longed for.  I thought about this for days…and it made the money have some worth…..then even more sadly……..I remembered that you don’t feel the same way…and I felt stupid again…and pushed the thoughts aside.

My feelings aside…I’m sorry you haven’t found someone to love in this world.  I cannot say which is worse: to love and lose or to never have loved at all…I really don’t know.

You will always be a heartache…for not only you didn’t feel the same way…but we couldn’t even stay friends…heartache on top of heartache…

I don’t mean to grieve you or burden you with sorrow…we care for whomever we care for and we don’t for whoever we don’t…All I can do is shrug and hurt when I say that.

I guess this poem just dredged up all the unresolved feelings that still writhe in my heart.

Better to say what I need to say than to bottle it all up…

Take care of yourself Andrew,,,

Love pamela
