Kentucky, Meet Atlantis and Pompeii
Takes not a degree to figure you out
Takes not a degree to know what you're about
Takes not any time to know your plan
Takes not any time to see how far you ran

Leave not, for I have something to say
Leave not because you know I have all day
Leave not a reminder of who you are
Leave not memories, for I've the mental scars

I knew better, I knew not
I knew you well but I forgot
You knew nothing and that's fine
I know you're no longer mine

Leave again, but don't come back
Derailed trains back to the track
Sunken ships return to sail
I'm not the only one you failed

It took much more than I allowed
It took fast fingers and screams aloud
It took another test to clarify this
It took failure of such and we're still amiss

Leave now, for I've had quite enough
Leave now, for softspoken words too rough
Leave now before I call to arms the past
Leave now, forever hold the pieces falling fast

I thought I knew you well
Before we erected Hell
You thought I never knew
Now I know that we're through

Fooled me once, fooled once more
Fool's gold for a wiser whore
Hate to admit, but you got me
Now my ship returns to sea.
