Silence, Vox Populi
To sleep, perchance to dream
Awaken to deafening scream
Heart racing
I saw you just as you seem

Why did I see you once again?
Where exactly have you been?
Heart sinking
Wishing this were all pretend

To sleep, perchance to dwell
The eyes that shine now swell
A face of death I cannot tell

The song reminds me of the day
Cruel reality took you far away
I'm hurting
You are up there, so they say

I never believed the story
I never praised the glory
But I feel you still exist
This thought I can't resist

If you really look over me
I guess you're finally free
Please believe me when I say
We won't meet again someday

To sleep and never to awaken
A chance ever so often taken
The futility
Still leaves me cold and shaken

Don't remind me what I know
Or emotions I refuse to show
I will roam
To the stone laid so long ago

To sleep and dream of fate
Yours I just could not dictate
I'm trying
Words you wrote still resonate

I should have known your plan
I saw the end within your hand
So vicarious
It ends beside the grave I stand

I can finally say I'm at rest
As you know how that feels best
Never the chance to say goodbye
I don't think you ever tried

Are you up there laying low?
Have you taken residence below?
Nothing they say changes my mind
You're somewhere I will never find.
