Lost and Tired

~Lost and Tired~

My feet have grown weary and want to stop
Standing at the bottom staring at the distant top

Questioning my mission and mental disposition
While attempting to have people simply listen

Time has beat me down to the frozen ground

My tortured heart now finds it harder to pound

Staring at the mirror and its recorded reflection

Deranged by a dislocated spiritual connection

Yet I wonít be defeated by misunderstanding

I am the captain of this ship Iím commanding

Because if it sinks or washes up on the shore

Too many will lose the next impending war

So although I may grow lost and tired
And may find it hard to remain inspired

Iíll wear this gift like a permanent tattoo

While I try to describe it in words to you

Author's Notes:
I began writing nearly 15 years ago after the suicidal death of my close friend-
Over the years this writing thing began consuming my life and I have had many
experiences of reality assist me in creating the right "words".
Today as I am restructuring my whole life, some of these poems have become
the inspirartion that have kept me going.
This one is from the pages of the newest book I'm writing_
I think it says a lot about where I am today-
Thanks for reading it!
Peace~
James

Rest from being tired and you'll be all the more stronger afterwards

As with you James poetry and writing has taken a great part of my life probably saving it if the truth were known, gift or curse its a fine line at times but from experience I find the bad times once down on paper don't quite seem so bad, I still enjoy your writing as much as ever~Graham.

Time marches on and like anything in life you wonder if your work has purpose. It certainly does. Well said.....Ann

You are a fighter James. Even though you feel like quitting too tired to go on. The power within you says your here for a purpose..something bigger than yourself. This is what I understood the message to be. There is a sadness within this write and yet hope.. for you live for others and are selfless. You will find your strength. As you describe "I'll wear this gift like a permanent tattoo." May you find peace and happiness once more. Hugs my friend.

We all come to the crossroads in ourlives. Especially where death occures. Searching for answers we know in our hearts we will never ever begin to understand! We all search for something of the spiritual connection to some point within our lives! I'm sure through prayer you will find all that your heart desires. Your a wonderful writer! I do pray the very best for you!

it also says a lot about where "I" am today. You have always inspired me and I have always loved your poems. But this one. in all simplicity seems Like I could have wrote it. It has a profound message, the truth in this is just simply put. I always love your rhyme and you have a few poems that live in my favorites, But this one.... This one is my alltime favorite!
