Take Me Back

Take me back to where you left me

Let me stand there in the rain

Tell me more, how youíll forget me

I could use a little pain

One more time, Iíd love to lose you

Like to fall back on that knee

Watch me beg while you refuse to -

Even turn your eyes toward me

What Iíd give to get dismantled

Torn apart and tossed aside

Throw me more than I can handle

Then just run away and hide

Give me every look you gave me

Give me every reason why

Say you wish that you could save me

Toss some mud into my eye

Letís relive your leaving angry

Call me names and throw my things

Tell me how you just canít stand me

Letís play catch with diamond rings

Make me feel that awful feeling

Send me back there one more time

Make your break with tires squealing

Donít look back, I wonít be fine

Take me back to where you left me

Let me stand here in the street

Say you wish youíd never met me

Crush my heart with leaving feet

One more time, Iíd love to go there

Just to watch you walk away

Watch my begging get me nowhere

Watch me do it anyway

What Iíd give to be bewildered

Left to wonder what Iíve missed

Throw me every word unfiltered

Let me see you shake that fist

Give me every gift I gave you

Give me every ďpiece of shitĒ

Tell me every word you came to

Leave me broken where I sit

Letís relive those final minutes

Call me names and slam the door

Tell me how youíre finally finished

Like a dozen times before

Make me feel like Iím below you

Send me down where I belong

Make it clear that I donít know you

Donít look back, you might be wrong

Take me back to where you left me

Let me stand and watch you go

Tell yourself that youíll forget me

Tell yourself youíre letting go

I don't know that I've the proper words for how much this resonates with me.  It's exactly the sort of feeling I've had before, and beautifully articulated.  Rhyme and meter are spot-on as well.  I adored it.

This is a poem with definite momentum. Your rhyme is spot on and as you read along the intesity just builds and builds. Loved this.
