Seven Years
Seven years ago
I walked the desert before you,
Where my chapped hands cupped precious little water,
And I could never weep
For fear I might run dry and wither.

I walked the sands in velvet and silence,
Leaving neither track nor trail,
A Ghost under the pulsing moon,
Cast in silver and ice‭;
I was a thief without beauty,
A traveler without road,
Sleeping away all light
And walking the dark paths that no one had marked.

Where were you then‭―
Or were you anywhere‭?
Were you a spirit to my ghost,
A soul to my shade,
An empty place for me to fill with the warmth
I could never find alone‭?

You came to me in the storm
At the point of a sword‭―
Reaching for me‭―
The sands shifted under us,
And you flowed softly over my dry tongue,
And cupped your hands for me to drink‭;

And the Ghost walked with you no more
Under the moon,
For I was with you instead.

Though this is not to the style of my personal liking I find it a strangely attractive piece and had to read it several times, its very descriptive and holds a haunting quality that is almost one could say meloncholy,wonderful writing~Graham.
