Land-Where-You-Are-Gone
The night creeps by in oily sleets,
While stars collect where shadow meets
The ether, and their edge retreats
To break tomorrow's dawn;
The bone trees grow in drifting fleets,
With blackened grass in flowing sheets,
While stagnant air the sun defeats
In Land-Where-You-Are-Gone.

This haunting is our special place,
Where nothing wholesome can erase
The degradation we embrace
And build our future on.
Our love's a very special case―
Our nightmares sway with primal grace,
And nothing of it commonplace:
The Land-Where-You-Are-Gone.

The vipers here are sleek and small
Beneath the bone trees listing tall,
So lissome in their sultry crawl,
With hisses woebegone.
They eat the shriveled skins that sprawl,
Cast off from every missing doll;
I hear their empty dresses call
In Land-Where-You-Are-Gone.

At teatime I rake up the dots
And boil them in my flowerpots,
To merge them with forget-me-nots
From pictures that you've drawn.
I strain them through the best inkblots
Until our constellation clots―
The tea is better once it rots
In Land-Where-You-Are-Gone.

Sit down, my dear, and have a drink―
It's nicer than your parrots think.
You be the couch, I'll be the shrink
For you to lie upon,
And we can watch me slowly sink
To cover up that new-death stink.
I'll wave if you'll stand at the brink
Of Land-Where-You-Are-Gone.

Don't fuss, my darling; there's dessert,
Just cover me with modling dirt,
And do feel free to stay and flirt
With any of your spawn;
At least they're safe, and can't pervert
The truths you find beneath your skirt,
So nothing evermore will hurt
In Land-Where-You-Are-Gone.

You'll like it here, my lovely one.
Author's Notes:
More working out feeling about my last big heartbreak.  Just about every line is a private metaphor or reference, which is why it doesn't make lots of sense.

wonderfully, rhymically written. It is so inspiring to see a piece so linked rhythmically while maintaining such elegant, intoxicating language throughout every single line. There are so many lines that i was blown away by...the entire 4th stanza being my favourite example.
i like the whole idea behind this: "Land-Where-You-Are-Gone"...so poetically inspired. the last stanza was a stinger..."At least they're safe and can't pervert/the truths you find beneath your skirt"...powerful words.
