Psalm 1257

Psalm 1257

You know, Father, I can turn nowhere else,

and for me to do so, would be foolish.

The history of my life has proven that.

Before I go any further, I just want to thank You,

For the strength Youíve given me to overcome temptations Iíve struggled with.

May You please, Father, continue to give me help with this.

The hope of the person I want to be is becoming clearer.

The goal I thought was unattainable, I see it as being attainable.

Inside, Father, deep inside of me, You know who I want to be, who I yearn to be,

the person You put me here to be.

In everyday frustrations, the enemy wants me focused on myself,

hoping that I might overlook others hurting around me,

hoping that I wonít give them a helping hand, a nice hello or a smile.

When these situation arise, Father, help me rise above,

Just like You always have, for my happiness is You.

Itís You who have filled my life with happiness and joy.

Yes, Iíve felt pain and sadness, but itís You who have enabled me

in those situations to still reach out.  Thank You, Father.

You give me the strength to smile, You give me the strength

to get back up, and keep moving forward despite the circumstance.

You give me the ability to forgive and not hold grudges.

Thank You, Father, for helping me overcome that darkness

which plagues so much of this world.

I pray, Father, for all who have trouble forgiving,

I pray that they find the ability to forgive,

I pray they find the gift of forgiveness.

There is more, Lord, I have so much more that I need.

I ask that those areas where Iím lacking,

give me eyes to see them, and a heart that will not become discouraged

when I take notice of what I lack.

And in those places where I am lost, lead me out,

And give me the courage to overcome anything that stands in my way,

but I donít want to overcome it by might, or by power,

just by Your Spirit, Father.  By Your Spirit.

Help me remember that, Father.

And I ask, Father, that anyone who relates to these words,

that they pray about it, and be given the same.

I ask this in Jesusí name,

Amen.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty

Who was, and is, and is to come.
