High Time
Of human emotions, on a scale of one to ten,
Skiing down mountains would have to be
                              THE most intense.
                        That shivery feeling
When you prepare to cheat Death,
                        The friendly bravado
                           In fear-hiding jest.
                        That building of confidence
                           Rising step by step,
                        The heightened awareness
                           That comes with each breath.
The pangs of regret of too-soft goodbyes
                           Blocked out by the silence
                              Of unreal blue skies.
                        Though physically drained
                           By the heights you attained,
The view from the top is worth doing again.

On the piste again Ken?! There is nothing like that feeling off speeding down the first hill of the day and not falling over, especially in my case!.

Excellent poem my friend.

I just got back from a skiing trip to Vail, CO.  I always find the inspiration you write of and yes, it is worth doing again and again.
