Two Years After
Those days are long past,
But we remain;
We try to grasp the years in vain,
And what's familiar is
What keeps us whole and sane.

Lovers only now
To keep alive
The fears our bodies can't revive―
The shades of green and blue
On which our dead dreams thrive.

Sharing in our words,
But not our souls,
And wondering which one controls;
We give and take relief,
But always keep our roles.

Give me what I want
And what I need―
But don't forget that we agreed
We wouldn't speak of things
That could have made us bleed.

Truth is lost with time,
And all that stays
Is what we use to pass the days,
And maybe we'll be gone
Before our world betrays;

I will stay tonight
And pull you through,
But selfishness is nothing new.
When all is said and done,
You know I won't choose you.

HOly Hell...I have missed being at the site, and missed some wonderful writing of yours! Will try to catch up when I can, this is powerful stuff here, and glad I happened by your writing. Very well written, with such a somber feeling throughout. Felt gutsy to me, can't really explain it. But, I loved it.
