Below the dark hallways where you used to tread―
Beneath the bright patches sewn on with old thread―
Behind the fogged windows where ice crystals spread―
The Watcher is silent; the Dreamer is dead.

When memory is misty and morals are gray―
When weeks pass unnoticed like one slurring day―
When stagnation smooths the road into decay―
The Watcher is missing; the Dreamer's away.

Where empty rooms listen as old wind chimes blow―
Where sunlight is static and settles like snow―
Where entropy burrows beneath its bronze glow―
The Watcher is sleeping; the Dreamer is slow.

Whenever your dreams and your plans are brought low―
Whenever your eyes close against vertigo―
Whenever your grief presses through to below―
The Watcher will hold you; the Dreamer will know.

Wherever your secrets exist to betray―
Wherever lie sharpened the words angels say―
Wherever your yearning is lost to delay―
The Watcher will find you; the Dreamer will stay.

But under dark paths where your footmarks have led
And pulsing between all the lies that you've said,
Uncaring of all that you've suffered and bled:
The Watcher is watching; the Dreamer is dead.
Author's Notes:
You can rationalize, play the victim, and hide behind whatever lies you want, and you can even make yourself forget for a time; but at the end of the day, when you're alone with your thoughts, you know exactly what it is that you've done.  Pseudo-aimed at someone who will probably never read it.  Rhyme and meter patterned after another poem I did a long time ago.

Beautifully constructed. I especially like this stanza:

"Where sunlight is static and settles like snow

Where entropy burrows beneath its bronze glow

The Watcher is sleeping; the Dreamer is slow."

Usually the sun symbolizes life. Being the source for complex low entropy systems on earth. But instead of providing an organizing function, here the sun's light is static; scattered by the clouds merely providing some heat in form of infrared and only little visible light; thus resulting in a bronze glow. Like a nuclear winter. Everything being slow and at rest with little free energy to feed off.
