The Last of This
I drift to you and watch the apples fall
As warm September chills to frosty night;
The leaves blow by under the fading light,
And you and I don't have to speak at all.
You feel as warm to touch as I feel small

A touch that means all in the world is right
The feeling creeps inside me now tonight,
A breath of peace above the morning's call.
We know our time together here is done.
The dawn will mean departure from this life,
This tiny home, to which our dreams are bound;
A hurt inflicted we could not outrun,
Unwilling end to love and hope and strife

A future spent, and apples on the ground.
Author's Notes:
There was a point at which I was certain I would lose someone very important to me, and this is from that time.

Your words created telling imagery as if you dipped a brush in paint and created a picture.  This is very well done.
