REFLECTIONS in AUTUMN

Burgundy-ochre colors,

evergreen summers replaced.

Subtly hued leaves sacrificed ,

for new life after Winter.

Peaceful... like a lifeless soul,

reflected in low light glimmer.

Feeding trout rising to

metaphored larvae, in ripples,

beneath a Willow tree.

Glassy.. silver-white circles,

roll silently closer.... farther.

Heel over head, Ruddy ducks,

into blue-red water swim.

Sleekly leaves bobble...

like crimson colored plums.

Debris plunging frantically,

over the falls to join in.

Tiny white specks sparkle,

a pond's crystal glow...

like starry symbols flicker,

in harvest moon's shadow..

as if beckoning to share,

our life's loving light.

Blazing Autumn colors enhanced,

by orchestrated strokes of snow,

she blends our souls with harmony,

and dresses us all in white shrouds..

of happiness... for tomorrow.

This poem is just beautiful, I loved the wonderful imagery in it.  If you showed this poem to an artist I bet they could paint a complete picture from just what you wrote.  Congrats on the award!

You captured the images of autumn very well.  A pictured painted with words.  I live in New York 90 miles from the Canadian border and the fall colors are splashed across the Adirondack Mountains.  Autumn is my favorite season because it is so beautiful.

Your poetry makes me realize how much I miss autumn.  Here in the desert there is no such word.  However, I do have an ash tree whose leaves will turn red and drop off in January but that's kind of like celebrating a birthday months after the fact.  Nice work.  Enjoyed.

Ramond,
Every word painted like a picture of blended colors that stroke across ones heart with melting desires to become a part of the vivid picture it self... Autumn is my favorite time of year ...ahhh to paint the colors and wish to be there fishing that cool dawning morning with freshness as the slight breeze kiss us awake..

Raymond... That was absolutely beautiful!!!! You have earned that dance my friend!! Such a way with words. I closed my eyes after the read and imagined being there at that pond.. The images flew by as I re-read your poem again...

Thank you.. For words are hardly spoken softly across ones mind to an audience such as we.. Yet with words of beauty, dream-like quality, then those words can move mountains to get to those who need the read..
