One Man's Trash

One Man's Trash

As I walked along, on a crisp sunny day,

I saw something that had been thrown away.

Something someone had carelessly tossed,

Cast aside without counting the cost.

From a distance a bright shimmer caught my eye,

Or else I may have not stopped and just walked on by.

Oft times a thing of value is carelessly discarded.

The previous owner had not realized or even regarded.

This treasure was now mine to possess.

Iíll keep her safe, to cherish and to caress.

Why did they not see the beauty and the value?

I knew it in an instant, the treasure that is you.

Harold McLelland

Every line in this poem is so truthful.... We need our friends to love and to listen what the heart finds hard to say in words...
