As my life enters autumn I begin to see
The shadows of what used to be
The winds of change have started to blow
As to my destiny I must go
Like a moth drawn to a shining light
I can't resist the calling of the night
When it was dawn I was so reckless
Now evening approaches I feel so helpless
What was the future has become the past
Its such a pity the morning did not last
Such a shame youth not properly served
Never given the attention that it's deserved
When the days dwindle to a precious few
I hope to look back and admire the view
And as I travel towards the setting sun
I can accept with grace, the day is done

Henry, this deserves an award for sure!!! This is absolutely beautiful!

Creative with a soft touch I would say. You have certainly outdone

yourself here. I shall keep this one......something to look back on as a reminder

of what is to come or what has already passed....this is just amazing!!

Always wondering and pondering....dealing with the facts of'

what if's and "what I should have done's"....just brilliant!

For once I am lost for words to express my honest emotions reading this very truthful poem about ones life... Have you beem peeking inside my heart as well??
This poem is how I feel now so much of my life wasted... Now what do I do...with whats left of it??
Who and what do I turn to now???

It's a beautiful repost, Henry...and tweaks or not, it's a beautiful  piece of work! Sad reflecting back on what we've let get by without appreciating it, huh?  Been there!!!

Great job on this....

Big hugs and understanding!

Tweak away Henry, it is still stunning. Reflection something that is hard to do at times, but, it happens as we get older. We always wonder about the what ifs...and I hate that.
This was lovely Henry; I hope your twilight days, give you much to smile about.
