the duality
Opened; eyes blue as the ocean and life grew like hearts locked in symbiosis
Like pitcher plants and orchids, between life and corpses, we live for those moments of openness
Our words are like the notes of an opus, I find real love in friendships' open notions
Arranged in chorus we try to maintain the some hope; some in God and other in corpus
Afraid to wither like corpses we are forced to cohort, to gain we change shape in contortions
But theres a paradox in our distortions; we say we believe dispersion, but then our actions are immersions
Theres something within us deeply ingrained in each person, the morality and the perversions
Religion teaches peace, but we kill to force conversion; we were taught to love, but hate is aversive
We want what we can't have and our lives twist like cursive, looping back reoccuring like waves in an ocean
I'm afraid theres no love potion that says a heart will love devotion, in fact I've learned it hates that notion

Is love really found or is it chosen? When you die is your heart broken or merely frozen?
When we live in arrogance is our mind open or closed in? Do we choose to breathe or is the air that goes in forced in?

These are the questions that have left me no solace
And if I had the answers then to you I would promise
To tell you that sometimes lies are more honest
Our lives are often meaningless in context
And happiness is an illusion brought on by death's conquest
