Memory Lane
I remember the times we used to have
Those little walks we used to take
The times that you made me laugh and cry
The times you made me worry about you
Those times I spent my time
Visiting you while you were in the hospital
Never prepared me to what was to come
I remember the time so clear
Last time I saw you
You were doing well
Released from the hospital
With out me knowning
It was boxing day when you went in
Went to visit you that very day
When I left I said I love you
I meant that with all my heart
The next thing I do a few days go by
Get a knock on the door by a man in a suit
Said he was a police officer and asked to come in
Told me what happened to you
That day my life changed
That day my life didn't seem the same
That day is the day I lost someone great
Lost a man that meant so much to me
Walking down the aisle of that chapel
As I held the handle of your coffin
I'll never forget the day you went down
Into the ground
You are now pain free
Hope you are happy
Hope you are watching over me
Keeping me safe like you always did
You were the one I shared my heart with
Told all my secrets to
Because I loved you trusted you need you in my life
Now you are gone and I feel alone
With out your loving arms to make me feel good
With out your gentle words to make me smile again
You were a special one
And that I did hear from all the great people that you touched with your presence

Very touching poem. I always like to go back and try to read a few rewarded poems, they are always just a step above the average poem. This definitely speaks to that truth. I can really tell you loved your father, the world lost a great man along with a loved individual.

Thanks for sharing him with us~

A tear jerker for sure brought tears to my eyes thinking of my dad. This is a suberb poem definately deserving of this award. So much emotion in this wonder and such a great tribute to a great man.
