Things My Mother Taught Me

A pretty face, beauty does not make
Like yourself, Love yourself, Forgive yourself
Go ahead and have a good cry, then get up, wash your face
Art is life, life is art
Love your kids unconditionally
Donít let a man treat you badly
Be gracious to everyone, even your brother
Never argue about religion or politics
Be passionate about what and who you love
Cinderella never kissed a frog
Donít cast your pearls before swine
Stop biting your nails
When tragedy strikes, deal with it
There is light, even when you canít see it
Put others first
Chose your friends wisely
Donít smoke cigarettes and drink to excess
Sex is a good thing. Best when shared with someone you love
Buy yourself presents
Believe in God
Drink your milk
Keep your heart tender
Create something beautiful everyday

She taught me so much more than I could ever express.
She is the most beautiful woman I know.

I had one of those. Not everyone did. We were the lucky ones. Well done, Cindy. ML

This is a truly heartwarming write, Cindy. Your Mom sounds like a wise and classy lady. I especially liked this line:

Be gracious to everyone, even your brother.

Reminded me of  my own mother...lol

hugs

Exceptional piece dedicated to your mother. At times they are the best lesson givers life can offer.

Your Mother is a wise woman Cindy. I somehow think her lessons were not lost on you because you show alot of these qualities you list, especially the last one "Create something beautiful everyday".... Your writing is proof of that!    Henry

Well she got more than half right which is not bad - these I disagree with:-

Never argue about religion or politics

Argument is the means of establishing truth - Religion and politics are both about how we should live our lives as an individual as a community and as a society - it is therefore very important hat we should argue about them.

Believe in God

God is dead and a good thing too!

Love, honor and respect your elders

No - love those who have earned love and honour and respect - Hitler was many people's elder!

My love honour and respect to you:-)

David
