Love Reviewed

Moments past move through my memory

Like shadows cast on a white picket fence

Flickering slowly in my subconscious thoughts

A scene needing approval now under review

Bits of life as I saw them become permanent

Film noir with moral ambiguity and sexual tones

Strangely erotic view of an alluring femme fatale

Contrasting of light and dark provide aesthetics

Self-indulgent yearning wrapped in time not here

Author's Notes:

This is about a man who dreams of a love affair with a woman from years ago, with regrets.  He now realizes that he loved her but was to shallow at the time to recognize it.

It's always with perfect vision we see what we let go. Very well done! Lots of big words too, lol!

I don't agree this is a shallow man. It is more like a man with a very sensitive heart..No matter

who we are we look back and say   'if only'  as in all cases it takes two hearts to love each other

If the time wasn't right then..You can still feel the nostalgia of that time, with no bad memories

.  Wishful thinking is a bind we all have at some time so enjoy the reflection...  Good to share this with you  the wording is perfect...Lorraina

Some lessons are harder learned than others, but not learning the lessons is worse than recognizing where growth is needed. Loved this write Steve.

Is better to have loved in the way that you could at the time then never to have experienced
being with her at all~
Good write-reflecting is always a good way to learn from the past to flourish in the now.

I love this dignified reflection Steve. You neither mourn or rejoice, just reflect. Describing the mental images as being like shadows moving across a white picket fence was brilliant...I'm not sure it the "white picket fence" was indicative of the traditional "family" arrangement but my mind did go there. Fine penning, I really enjoy your work.

Ouch, and ....ouch again. Oh well, you know, we all have those what ifs hanging around, but all we can DO is try and think that there was a reason we didn't go there at that time, and believe we are better now for it. Anything else, and we could all be quite mad I would think..
good write.

Love affects all so differently.. Shallow are some who just don't want or understand what is really going on.....what a waste for this man...
