A single tear fell
A single tear fell
as a child cried
silently from the distance
his mother stood by his bedside

A single tear fell
as he drifted far away
angels lifting him high
leaving his pain of yesterday

A single tear fell
and a mother cried
falling to her knees
as a part of her died

A single tear fell
for the joy that will never be
no future or tomorrow
as a little boy is set free

A single tear fell
sadness and joy are one
a baby boy in restful peace
lives with angels now in heaven

Dear Helen....I could not bear a child being taken away, and I feel the sadness within these lines of your precious work...Such sadness fades away for the young boy's Soul to be at peace...I liked the repetition of the single tear throughout the work, bringing us the message of the write...

In heartbreak.....Margaret....

absolutely heartbreaking - something that every parent dreads - still, this is a touching tribute that captures that pain no one should endure

There is NOTHING sadder than the death of an infant. LIfe is not fair. Everyone should have the opportunity to make  mistakes and have a chance for love.. Yer box is full, so here's my response to "{Regrets"....

Thank you so much, Helen...The lady's name was Sherice.. She was an ex-fashion model, and I was still a practicing drunk..She might have been the right one, but at the wrong time...Just a meloncholy stroll down Memory Lane....len

Such sadness in this.  As a parent I don't know how I would be through all in your poem.

To me the single tear meant the boy felt parting was bittersweet...but not unfavorable. This poem is like that parting...sad, yet comforting too. Very nice Helen!

I like the line    .."a little boy is set free"    It has a feeling of giving new life to a sad situation.  Though in reality aren't we all trying to return to heaven?  Isn't that a goal in life?   He has made it.   We should be glad for him.    Gene
