Devotion
When the first light appears, but the sun is not yet awake
After that sweetest sound fills the ears with song
I will show my love with the first waking thought
And begin my day of devotion

When the noon hour has started to leave
And the light of day hides shadows beneath the feet
I will show my love again, in the light for all to see
On bended knees, forehead upon the rug

When the sun is midway to its slumber
And the heat of day feels heaviest
I will show my love, in a pause to remember
A look forward to evening, and its resting time

When the daylight is fading, distant treetops pulling it down
And the shadows tease by stretching as in sleep
I will show my love, the reason for my labours of the day
And begin my return home, to rest, to ponder

And when the last red glow has faded into into night
The calming smell of the kitchen mixes with the jasmine in the air
I will show my love, with the last thought of my day
Then dream of eternity in your embrace

A progressive state of adoration worship in the One who is Eternal.. the restfulness and joy that makes us belong.. and the hope of eternity.. Applauding.. I will praise the LORD at all times..HIS praise shall always be in my mouth as the Psalmist puts it.. and again...let our lives be for HIM be in HIM.. Wishing you a blessed Easter.. and luv ..as always..anna

You are without doubt one of the best poets I have read on here Eric. Your work is always original and displays a very deep and tender man.

Returned to strength, I'd say :-).
Eric, it's good to see you around, and to read such a fine poem filled with serenity.

If the spirit is in balance, so are we.

Take care,
~Heike

Whoa Eric.....WELCOME BACK BUD!! It seems you have returned with bells on man!

I was getting a sense of "call to prayer" when I was reading this poem. I see you've still got it...this is so descriptive-- beauty in each and every verse. Gud on yah! =))
