When sleep escapes me
Where sentinel guards a gate without entrance
I wander into elusive dreams of fairy tale
Never pluck wild flowers sown in arcane desire
Turn your face away from the winter sun
And believe in the warmth of spring
Did I glimpse the shadow of his face?
Feel his kiss upon my ivory neck?
Lift a buttercup up under your chin
It always shines gold
When you are in love
It always shines gold!

Wow great write excellent use of repetition and I love the way that the last for lines are almost like a refrain to or an after thought to the main verse but without it it would not be as good. Brilliant work

This brings a smile.  Maybe we just need to make love as simple as a buttercup under our chin.  Maybe love is that simple.

It is my belief that love is a great healer, and can open up another's heart even if it is guarded and has no gates! Wonderful poem Cindy!   Henry

Beautilfully done Cindy. Makes it hard to wait til all the flowers come alive! I had heard something similar to this only with a dandelion..(I prefer the buttercups, lol! )
Nice to see you here..

"Sometimes for me the meanest flower that blows

Doth give rise to thoughts that lie too deep for tears"

Don't step on the daisies or you will destroy somebody's wish!

This is a beautiful poem for Springtime.

It sure suits my vision of a love poem for the season.
