The Dream of Truth

And if the world decided

that it wouldn't need me any more

Would you be dishonest enough

to tell me that you still do?

And if the spirit of this lively city

were poured into my glass

Would you be sober enough

to prevent my leap to the abyss?

And if my rainbow country

were never to come

Would you have the

(almost sentimental)

nerve to assure me that this one

may be less luminous, but ours?

Would you?

I like it........poems that are layered with emotion, imagery and intent.    Certainly makes the reader contemplate.

This has rendered me...speechless, quite literally. Been sitting here for some time now trying to come up with something to say. Apparently my vocabulary dwindled whilst reading this poem. For all i can come up with is "Wow".

Thanks for sharing.

This seems a rather melancholy, though, as always, very well-written piece, about trust and sincerity. Or is it just being honest about some relationships? Well done.

I've not seen the film, but i agree with the others below, honesty, commitment, both things we strive for. As always, a well writen piece here Heike.

A joy to read. Yes, honesty and commitment the nucleus

of a good life.

I would! As always, I enjoy the sophistication of your work. I don't know this movie, but the question of commitment is universal. Wonderful first stanza to that end. jp
