Empires Ruin
A patchwork quilt of green bronzed in steel, Its destiny manifest, Bathed in past fires and wars, The phoenix from ash that has fallen and risen, But no more, Its greatness has wilted and its dignity faded, The light no longer shines in its darkest hours, The people are twisted and rotten to their cores, And all around the good see all but cannot change, For time has melted the last of their giving’s, The small ones no longer concern them, And all the while the gap widens, The systems have died and the people are one, Everyone is equal and yet still divided, They have entered Eden and thronged to the serpent, The ignorant, The free, The damned.
