My Last Letter

When I heard the news

I broke down and cried

The Army sent a man

He told me you died

I wrote my last letter

To tell you how I feel

My love is so strong

My devotion very real

Tears stain the page

This canít be true

I am so full of rage

Oh God what can I do

You were so young

Youíre gone about a year

They gave you that gun

My heart filled with fear

I canít go another day

And miss you so much

Every evening I pray

I still can feel your touch

All my love, to you I send

I feel so very empty

I want my life to end

You have touched a nerve close to my heart my friend.

I have had friends, close friends, who gave up their lives

for our country.

I hate it and I hate war but I'm proud I knew them and

we must go on with our lives for that is why they died.
