My Mum

My Mum

She was the long walk home
No bus ever ran this moonlit mile
Counted streetlights on the way
Trees that bowed before the wind
Strangers voices in the breeze
In my youthful fearless ramble
Tread softly in your life
A mothers words that resonate
Lay gently on my mind
A piano plays
A haunting chord
With delicate fingers
That touched my soul.
A heart that left me silent
For so long.

Sensory experiences have a strange way of evoking the departed. You've shaped those impressions very well. The journey is set by the simple declaration that "She was the long walk home."

Beautiful write John. That long walk home to a warm and loving mother is so touching. I feel the love that you have for your mom.

Oh truly beautiful!  A mother is an angel to every child.
This is so wonderful John, truly a beautiful piece.

Beautifully done, John...There's nothing that inspires a  beautiful soul like a mother's love, and that love returned.

Fantastic  work....

Hugs...Glata
