Can You Feel the Pain

~Can You Feel the Pain~

Times been floating in a bottle across destinies seas

The devils laughing louder you can hear him in the breeze

The moment is arriving as the meek get on their knees

God is coming to cure what he sees as our disease

I was wandering lost when he whispered in my ear

The moment that I heard him my eyes began to tear
Then he held me in his arms and drew me very near
He told of the moment that for years was very clear

He told of the moment that for years was very clear

Can you feel the pain of the driven nail

Can you find yourself within the shell

Can you hear the toll of the 7th bell

As the world awaits the flames from hell

As the world awaits the flames from hell

I could feel his frustration and all his scars of pain

Because the word he had written had been taken in vain

Now the list has been created and the few that will remain

Will find themselves protected from the fire that will rain

Iíve witnessed the destruction from pages in my mind

Iíve cried for this world and the existence weíve designed

But with our eyes wide open we decided to be blind
Now I wait for the moment when the planets have aligned

I wait for the moment when the planets have aligned

Can you feel the pain of the driven nail

Can you find yourself within the shell

Can you hear the toll of the 7th bell

As the world awaits the flames from hell

As the world awaits the flames from hell

Times been floating in a bottle across destinies seas

The devils laughing louder you can hear him in the breeze

The moment is arriving as the meek get on their knees

God is coming to cure what he sees as our disease

God is coming to cure what he sees as our disease

Can you feel the pain of the driven nail

Can you find yourself within the shell

Can you hear the toll of the 7th bell

As the world awaits the flames from hell

As the world awaits the flames from hell

Author's Notes:
I was listening to the last album Johnny Cash recorded before his
death simply titled "Cash"
It is a very stripped down to the soul album that reflected roots
back to the beginning of his early gospal years.
Anyways I ended up typin' this out right afterwards in about 10 minutes.
Damdest thing here is I haven't wrote any lyrics for around 9 years now-
Writing is an amazing gift-
We as the writer are simply no more than a listening ear-
Which means we never know what we may hear-
Cool Aint It-
Peace~

James...exceptional poetry. Written with the heart of someone that has known pain and understands the reality and results of pain... a deeply moving piece here.

The best stuff always seems to come out of left field.. AS Mark Twain said, "If there is another book in me, it will come out and I will put it on paper." He understood that thee real thing writes itself.. Great song, buddy... yer box is full, so here's my response to your comment...

Thank you, James...Very kind words, indeed...Hey, buddy...We go back aways on this site, huh? About George....If his first twerm didn't get the message across to those who voted for him twice, we as a country need to pay a lot more attention...len

Reminiscent of Cash and his songs of sorrow-- Expecially "Hung my head".

I have the complete Sun Records recordings where it was JR and his band, poor as sin, doing what God told them to do. Amazing stuff. The raw emotion and the simplicity of Cash is written all over this one.

It is appreciated.

Cheers.

This was great, if you like his work, I saw on one of the morning shows, don't remember which one, but there is a teenage boy who sounds exactly like him, and I mean exactly...
