I travel alone
I've managed now to come this far
bending and winding roads that wouldn't end
I saw the road stop
only to find another bend.

I followed this road not knowing where it would lead
memories behind, left with want and need
thrown aside for a new view
only to find this road I travelled was meant for two

I walked it alone with no footsteps to follow
wondering where I would be tomorrow
I'm saddened now by the unknown
travelling this dark road all alone

Although you may travel the road alone Helen, you are never truly alone because there is always someone to lend a hand or an ear! I too have felt that lonliness and hopelessness until someone rescued me and reopened my heart in the process! I thank God everyday for sending her to me! So keep your chin up Helen, you can always find a shoulder to lean on, in fact, I have two open shoulders if you need.  Henry

I've traveled those roads although I've had company...I've still felt alone.

Its hard to explain. I know where you're coming from because I've been there.

Footprints
Also Known As "I Had a Dream"

One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.

When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.

"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

Helen,

I have traveled this dark road, and know exactly how you feel, I am getting ready to travel another one very soon..However, I feel with as much love, and com passion, my friends have for me, I am never truly alone.. The unknown is very scary yes, but if we knew every step we were about to take, would we really want to take them? There were oft times when I was quite happy, where I had walked, and met some beautiful people along the way, that I never would have had,  the chance to meet ,had the circumstances not been as they were,  on the same ,weary road..Hold tight to what you believe my friend, but try and leave some room for new and wonderful experiences....God Bless DeAnna

Helen,
The fear of the unknown has no mercy and we stumble with hidden fear... How so well I know of this darkness.. Your poetry hurts my heart... Your friend are here..we love as sisters and brothers...This makes tears trickle..You are not alone!!
Hugs ~ She Whispers (())I walked it alone with no footsteps to follow

'I walk alone', an uncertain future that sounds very sad; however with friends it can change that.

Hugs! ~ Joe

it can be fearful to face a future without one that you know, love and trust to walk it with you...For all those walking that road alone, my heart goes out to them.

Great work, Helen...You speak with a heart that others can understand.

Glata
