Autumn Takes Center Stage
 Autumn Takes Center Stage
Goodbye summer time my dear friend.
Your time to shine has come to an end.
We will miss soothing dips in the pool.
But I’m tired of sweating. It’s time to be cool!
Autumn has arrived with her cool silken gown.
And soon her fall leaves will cover the ground.
Her presence is most welcome, especially down south.
Soon we’ll be bobbing for apples using only our mouth.
Old Man Winter will be waiting in the wing.
He can stay away for a while and let the birds sing.
It's time to see what the harvest shall yield.
I will look for the best pumpkin in the field.
I love when the seasons slowly change.
Nature takes her sweet time to rearrange.
It's time for long walks in the cool night air.
Couples hold hands and even kiss if they dare.
I hear the orchestra warming up their instruments?
The performance begins with autumns fall prints.
Vibrant leaves are ablaze with yellows, oranges and red.
Soon visions of sugar plumbs will dance in children’s head.
The Fall Equinox occurs in mid September.
This is a fact that everyone should remember.
Has anyone prepared for the “Autumn Ball”?
I hope so, because today’s the first day of fall.

Author's Notes:
Summer's passing and fall's arrival
should never go unheralded...
So here is my contribution...
I hope it is a glorious autumn!!!

I used to love fall and winter....but the last couple of years it's been depressing...

However, I think this one is going to be MUCH better! :o)

Hugs to ya....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...summer, please don't go. Oh heck Harold, as pretty as Autumn is I wish it would wait a bit. We are well into it here in Canada, the ground is covered in leaves, the trees are pretty bare. The rains, winds and cold temps have been with us for several weeks now and I'm bloody cold. I swear each winter gets worse...or maybe I'm getting soft(er). *laughs*

This is a lovely, positive poem Harold. You have written a lovely welcome to a season that many people choose as their favorite. Cheers!
