The Play
There is no dress rehearsal as the play of life begins,
You jump in and act your part,
the best actor you can be.
Anger flares where soft words should be spoken.
There is no script to follow,
Stopping and rewinding,
Lets try this part again tomorrow.

There you stand spectating,
Watching for each flaw,
Carefully assessing things,
As from your script you withdraw.

No-one said you where the directer.
You were not hired for that job.
Your script in life was also not written.
It is you who should play your part.

It is easy to criticize those who do there very best,
Standing in the corner watching,
Not playing out your hand
Putting others through your test.
Grading each decision.
Not allowing for mistakes.
Failing them,
for the play with no script in place.

Very well said.....try your best with what you were given.....and respect those that try. You don't have to get something right the first time to be successful.

Life is a stage and we are all players - with entrances and exits. I agree with you that an actor is not expected to leave his part or cue and criticise others. This deserves some thinking over.

I think we all play roles throughout our lives...but  they are sometimes not roles we were intended to play...Some take it upon themselves to play director when they really are not fit to be more than a "walk on" in the cast of life!

A true write, indeed!

Hang in there, Helen....and Hugs to you!

The truth in this piece is alarming almost!  That's life.  "All the worlds a stage" as Shakespear said!  Great write Hele!
