He sits alone in the lunchroom, he sits by himself in class.
He never participates in the fun that he watches others have.
He feels a little undeserving, a little less than whole,
because everytime he goes home he loses another piece of his soul.
He walks with his head down, he doesn't know how to hold it high,
because at home, where his loneliness grows,
you either tuck your chin or die.
He's his father's best kept secret, his mother's pride and joy,
locked in a room within himself, their beautiful little boy.
He's his mother's best kept secret, his father's pride and joy,
locked in a room within himself, their beautiful little toy.
Sometimes he wants to scream at them, sometimes he wants to die,
sometimes the words he never speaks fall silently from his eyes,
he can't stop feeling dirty, he always blames himself,
so they take and they take until he shakes and he breaks;
that's a seven year old's secret Hell.
The baby won't stop crying,
it might be hungry, but it won't feed,
it's diaper isn't dirty, it's mother
doesn't know what it needs.
It's father won't stop screaming,
he's had a long day at work,
he's been filing papers all day
and his new boss is a jerk.
He's yelling at the mother,
and he's screaming at the child,
and amidst the pleading and the crying,
the baby's father just went wild.
He pushed his wife to the floor,
when she fell she hit her head,
but the father didn't realize
that his bride was dead.
He scooped up little baby,
who screamed louder in it's fright,
father yelled one last time
then shook the child with all his might.
The baby finally stopped crying,
it didn't make even the slightest sound,
not a moan, not a breath,
just a weak thud on the ground.
Father realized what he'd done,
he couldn't live with himself,
so he chose to take his own life,
and that's a newborn's day in Hell.
There are countless stories like these,
you've heard them all before,
they're quite painful to think about,
so they're quite often ignored.
I think my mother loved me,
but she loved her drugs much more,
and she couldn't afford both of us,
so I was quite often ignored.
One day I was taken
from my mother and my home,
and although my sister was with me,
I still felt like I was alone,
I cried to God for answers,
"Why is the world so bad?!"
but my query fell on deaf ears;
perhaps there's no answer to be had.
If these stories scare you,
perhaps it's just as well,
because my point is very simple:
we're creating our own Hell.

..... geez Derek, you brang tears to me with this, no shit. There are such horrible things happening in the world, and you feel so helpless knowing they are happening at every moment. Im sorry you had to go through that, it was the middle that got me though, i cannot understand for the life of me howanyone could hurt a baby... i feel sick.

You described this too well, and indeed a truth that not many wish to face, what is the world coming to.

sorry to ramble on lol, but your a great writer.
